New Place for the Consell General of Andorra

The new seat of the General Council located in the vicinity of the Casa de la Vall is a building that solves the functional program of the Parliament building and at the same time fits and gives immediate response to the monumental potentialities.

With a maximum height of 30,20 m, the building has a total built area of 16.000 m2.

The surroundings of Casa de la Vall are today spaces with a great historical and symbolical significance, but located on the highest point of the Old Town of Andorra la Vella and that means they have little relation with the plot of the city.

It was necessary to extract over 40.000 m3 of rock.

The new building connects the Old Town and the new extension. It is a conection between modernity and history, through a square in the Casa de la Vall of 1300 m2.

The architecture of the General Council of Andorra reflects the symbolic capacity, the thinking of society, its durability and the fact for being a reference in time and place.
